Workgroups and Issue Areas

Over the course of the last few years, PLAN’s work has focused on the convening of Task Force Summits on various issues. These meetings have served the purpose of completing a policy agenda for the City as well as providing an avenue to identify emerging issues and involving a variety of progressive organizations in the various aspects of PLAN’s work. In addition the Task Force and individual meetings stimulated by the work of the Task Forces have provided a feedback loop to the PLAN staff to get insight on the work, direction of the organization, and suggestions for improvement.

Local grassroots, labor, community and environmental leaders have participated in convening the task force meetings and policy summits, which resulted in PLAN’s 21 Point Agenda. To date, there have been task force meetings convened in the following issue areas: Housing; Transportation and Land Use; the Urban Environment; Community Development; Economic Development; Worker’s Rights; Food and Nutrition; Health; and, Democracy and Empowerment.

Co-convenors of these groups played a critical role in developing the initial draft agenda documents, identifying participants and assisting with outreach.
